Storage & Bottling

Storage

Storage of Extra Virgin Olive Oil is a critical part of the whole production process. Vesuvio Estates stores our Extra Virgin Olive Oil in 10 000Lt capacity tanks in an optimum temperature controlled environment. This prevents temperature fluctuations and ensures the retention of all the good qualities and nutritional benefits of the oil after it has been extracted.  The 10 000Lt conical and custom-built storage tanks encapsulate the oil ensuring it never comes into contact with light and air.   We only bottle on order so that we keep the product stored under the best conditions for the longest possible period.

Bottling

After you have paid the utmost attention to processing a best quality Extra Virgin Olive Oil, you want to make sure that the final stages preserve the integrity of the product.  Vesuvio Estates has a fully automated modern bottling facility adjacent to our cooled storage room.  To fill orders, the oil is transported a short distance from a gravity-fed tank to the bottling room.  Bottles are fed from the packaging material store to the bottling plant via a conveyor.  A blower-rinser pushes sterile air though the bottle to ensure that there are no particles in the bottle.  Sterile bottles are filled with oil using a highly accurate vacuum filling system.  Then an integrated pourer closure is rolled onto the top of the bottle and it is sealed.  Along the bottling line, we have four well controlled inspection points.  Labelling is the last stage of the process.  Front and back labels are applied individually by two computerised mechanisms. Once bottles are labelled, PVC capsules are applied over the sealed caps and the bottles are then packed in boxes – ready for shipment.
