Storage & Bottling
Storage of Extra Virgin Olive Oil is a critical part of the whole production process. Vesuvio Estates stores our Extra Virgin Olive Oil in 10 000Lt capacity tanks in an optimum temperature controlled environment. This prevents temperature fluctuations and ensures the retention of all the good qualities and nutritional benefits of the oil after it has been extracted. The 10 000Lt conical and custom-built storage tanks encapsulate the oil ensuring it never comes into contact with light and air. We only bottle to order to keep the product stored under the best conditions for the longest period possible.
After paying the utmost care and attention to processing an award winning Extra Virgin Olive Oil, it is as important to preserve the integrity of the product in the final stages. Vesuvio Estates has a fully automated modern bottling facility adjacent to our cooled storage room. The oil is transported a short distance via a gravity-fed tank to the bottling room. Bottles are fed from the packaging material store to the bottling plant via a conveyor. A blower-rinser pushes sterile air though the bottles removing any particles in the bottles. Sterile bottles are filled with oil using a highly accurate vacuum filling system. Integrated pourer caps are rolled onto the top of the bottles to seal them. There are four well controlled inspection points along the bottling line, Labeling is the last stage of the process. Front and back labels are applied individually by two computerised mechanisms. Once bottles are labelled, PVC capsules are applied over the sealed caps and the bottles are packed in boxes – ready for shipment.
